Diffusion and Osmosis Hypothesis If you used osmosis then the egg will get smaller thanusual because water is leaving the egg.If you use diffusion then it would get bigger because of the temperature. (This is not correct. Osmosis is the ability of molecules to pass through a membrane. Diffusion is the desire of molecules to even their density)
Materials
we used Corn Syrup,Vinegar,Salt Water,5 Eggs,A Scale,Measuring Cups,Water,
table salt and food coloring.
Procedure First thing we did was we placed egg's in vinegar for 3 days. Second thing we did was we placed egg one in corn syrup then we put egg two in regular water then we put egg three in hot water.When we where done that we grabbed the eggs an we dissect the eggs.
Observations We removed the egg from the vinegar and it had no shell.The eggs had a mass of 96g.They appear larger than a regular egg which has had a mass of 65g.We measured all 3 eggs again.Egg one went from 39g to 86g and egg two went from 94g and stayed the same finally egg three went from 98g to 74g.
Relevance Without osmosis we wouldn't be alive today because if we just had diffusion our heads would be huge.Also it helps purify our water when we drink it.
